Hello to all!
I apologize; it has been a long time since my initial post.
As I look around at the people traveling from around the world while sitting here on another delay at the airport…I wonder how many have even considered end-of-life decisions.
Advanced directives; do you have one in place or has the discussion ever came up in conversations.
Questions such as:
· Medically; what do you want?
· How aggressive do you want treated?
· Life support?
· Tube feedings?
· Hydration?
· Dialysis?
· Antibiotics?
· Transfusions?
· CPR?
· DNR?
“Advanced directives are legal documents that allow you to convey your decisions about end-of-life care ahead of time” (Medline Plus, 2011, para.1).
Some readers may understand the meaning…while others may not…and that is alright…at least the end-of-life conversation has begun today. Just beginning the conversation is an important start in the discussion on the end-of-life and how we each choose to end our journey in our own way.
